Seema Anand is an experienced storyteller from India and has been delighting audiences for many years. She brings stories from her country to our club and her performance is part of our programme for the year. Our venue is a welcoming place, with refreshments available (donations please). There is good access for the disabled. Tickets are £5, (£4 for concessions) and are sold on the door. See us on Facebook (look for Stowtellers), or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
"Stowtellers", the Walthamstow Storytelling club, provides a venue for those who wish to listen to stories and/or tell stories. The stories told are the traditional tales, myths, legends and folk tales from the past, stretching into the present. Personal stories may also be told. Our aim is to rekindle an interest in oral storytelling. We are very keen to bring to our venue a diverse audience to reflect the diversity of the community of Walthamstow. The club is run by Jumana Moon and Mike Forbes, both experienced storytellers.
The club meets on every second Monday in the month at The Welcome Centre, by St Mary's Church, beginning at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7 pm). On a regular night, we charge only £3 admission, £2 for concessions.
We are all storytellers, aren't we? So, if you have a story you want to tell, this is your opportunity to tell it in a supportive atmosphere. You may tell any kind of story, but no reading is allowed. There is no pressure to tell a story. Just come and listen and enjoy!
The club and the storytelling are for adults and are at an adult time, but this does not mean that the stories are X rated! Older children may attend at the discretion of their parents or carers.
Suitable for all.
