Queen's Road Cemetery
|Open: Sat-Sun 11am-4pm, Performances and storytelling at different times both days.
This venue has level access.
Part of the "Watercress Beds to One-Way Streets" project, our presence at the E17 Art Trail this year will include an installation and performance by the children of Edinburgh Primary School, who have been working with us to tell and imagine some local stories of long ago. Some of them are of people who lived in our houses, walked through our streets, went to our schools - and lived through a World War. And some of them are of people who had no idea their descendants would become part of the story of the Queen's Road neighbourhood.
There will also be a rare opportunity of seeing inside the Victorian chapels at Queen's Road cemetery, of discovering something of its history, of seeing the start we have made on their regeneration and of helping make future plans for them. And come on a walk round the cemetery and hear the stories of some of those remembered there - from First World War fighters to some who fought for social justice at home to the lady who left her modest fortune to create the cemetery's one mausoleum so she could be remembered in marble and gold leaf.
And we will be previewing the website we are creating to share our discoveries about our neighbourhood.
For a detailed timetable of the weekend, please see www.clioscompany.co.uk from 1st June.
Suitable for all.
