The Door Diaries
Vestry House Museum
This venue has level access.
The Door Diaries are a set of salvaged, scraped-back and re-painted doors, all that remains of two demolished flats on a north London housing estate. They list every address the artist has lived at during the course of a life and include texts from letters that arrived at those addresses.
The Door Diaries explore the changing notion of home in the late 20th and early 21st centuries by highlighting a nomadic lifestyle and paying tribute to those human networks that shored up that mutability.
A portal and a scream door to the irretrievable past, a gorgeous palimpsest of memories, and a frontier between then and now, The Door Diaries ask, when does a postal address become a home?
Suitable for all.
