This class is intended to be a relaxed and intimate group. It is 3 hours long, with a maximum of 4 people and includes a finger lunch so that we get time to meet each other properly. We will be working in my studio which is in the garden of our house.
I have spent the last few years drawing mostly insects and the like but I have been drawing forever and can get a kick out of drawing anything. "Anything?" "Yep anything". For 3 months I drew mainly light switches and skirting boards so I think you can see where I am coming from.
In this class you can draw from my box of insects if you wish - or grab something lying around the studio to focus on. We aren't going to compose a 'beautiful' still life here so what you choose really doesn't matter as much how you look at it. It is the looking and the drawing that will make this beautiful. We are also not focusing on producing a finished piece as much as learning the skills to take away - although this doesn't stop you from finishing a drawing either!
We will work on a line sketch first and then if you want to move onto texture and shading we can but you might have been bitten by the line bug and just want to carry on...
I shall supply materials and we will be working in pencil on paper.
AGE: Over 16 years of age
LEVEL: Anyone can learn something valuable in a group this small so ability isn't an issue
