The Walthamstow Poetry Trail
1 – 16 September 2012

For the second year running, The Poetry Trail will be part of the upcoming E17 Art Trail and will include displays of poems in estate agent windows along Hoe St and beyond!

We are very pleased Penny Rutterford is curating the poetry trail again this year. If you would like to take part please email Penny directly to send you the full brief. Matt McKenzie from Paekakiriki Press (http://paekakarikipress.com) is also producing the display prints and another beautiful anthology for us.

If you have any additional ideas or events/displays you have already planned or wish to organise as part of the Art trail that is great – do let us know so we can make sure that it is also included in the Poetry Trail listing. Our aim is to celebrate the art of poetry in Walthamstow – be it by performance or on the page.

The theme for this year’s E17 Art Trail and for our poems is Bestow.
verb (used with object)
1. to present as a gift; give; confer (usually followed by on or upon ): The trophy was bestowed upon the winner.
2. to put to some use; apply: Time spent in study is time well bestowed.
Archaic .
a. to provide quarters for; house; lodge.
b. to put; stow; deposit; store

Feel free to interpret the theme as broadly as you like – just use it as inspiration. Think about gifts, things inherited or passed on, it’s up to you.

Once again we will be inviting artists to collaborate with poets to produce a Poem Art Print.
If you are an artist and would like to work with a poet, please get in touch.

We also plan to produce an anthology of the poems to be available for sale at local outlets during and after the Trail.

If you would like to contribute a poem to the trail or are an artist who would like to collaborate with a poet to illustrate their words please email or phone to confirm your involvement.
Email penny.rutterford@hotmail.com
Phone 07714 538358.

Please confirm your intention to contribute by no later than Monday 18 June.

The deadline for receiving poems and artwork is Friday 27 July, 5pm.
This is to allow us time to typeset and print the poems ready for display and inclusion in the anthology.

As many of you know, the Art Trail is an artist led, community focused project which allows people of all abilities, interests and backgrounds to take part. In recent years more than 1200 local artists did so. Therefore, all poems are welcome, from poets of any age, background or experience. Any selection will only be made in relation to the number of display spaces we have available. This may mean, if you contribute more than one poem, we may not be able to display them all
